Description
Knit like a Viking – Nalbinding workshop
Nalbinding (or nålbinding) is an ancient textile technique, predating knitting and crochet, that uses a single needle and short lengths of yarn to create a fabric of interlocking loops.
Unlike knitted or crocheted items, nalbinding fabric does not unravel when cut and is often more durable and solid, with the wool naturally felting with use. The technique has been practiced for thousands of years across Europe and the Middle East, used to make items like socks, hats, and mittens.
This workshop will show you how to do ‘oslo’ stitch, one of the more straightforward stitches.
All equipment and materials are provided, and no experience is needed.
Tea, coffee, scones and cake in tap.
Suitable for ages 12 and over.
Cost – £20 per person
