Winchester Colour Factory Workshop

I’m away for a couple of days in Winchester for a wee holiday, and of course I found a craft workshop to go to!
It was about making a copper bowl, at The Colour Factory in Winchester.
On The Wheel

Today I spun some of my own hand-dyed wool. This was dyed using Kraftcolour Landscape dye in both Teal and Fern.
Dorset Button Workshop

This afternoon I took part in a Dorset Button workshop at the Craft Room, Newtownards, with Karen, Sharon, Sarah and Ethna.
Nalbinding – Viking Knitting

Here is a brand new Nalbinding workshop at Kiri Cottage Crafts. This is a form of early Scandinavian knitting, often associated with the vikings. This is Oslo stitch, one of many Nalbinding stitches.
Art Batts

I’ve been working on two art batts today, created on my Brother Drum Carder.
I’m looking forward to spinning these later today.
These are a mixture of wool, bamboo, tencel, recycled sari silk and trilobal for a bit of sparkle. Pretty!
Hand Spun Wool – Recent Commissions

I have recently completed a couple of commissions. One for two pet sheep (spun and dyed) and one for alpacas.
Soda Bread at Cockle Row Cottages

This was a visit to Cockle Row Cottages this afternoon for another soda bread making demo.
I shared the cottage with Santa and one of his elves. There were also two visiting alpacas and a lovely group of flautists playing Christmas songs.
The soda bread was very popular with visitors and I hope to be back again very soon.
Merry Christmas to all at Cockle Row Cottages!
Exciting News!

I have been working very hard putting together a programme for the next couple of weeks. These are workshops, both old and brand new, being run from my premises at Kiri Cottage.
Make Along Week 1

I decided to make something for myself for a change, and came across a ‘Make Along’ from the Danish wool sales company Hobbii:

Interestingly, they don’t let you see the final garment, but release parts of the pattern every week over a six week period. There is both a knitted and a crochet option, and you can buy a kit from them, or buy your own wool and access the pattern for free.
Bonnets and Lace, 28 May – Experience AND 2023

I am participating in the Ards and North Down Borough Council “Experience AND 2023 Programme of Unique Immerse Experiences, Guided Walks, and Tours” this year. The first workshop I am running is “Bonnets and Lace” on 28 May 2023. This can be booked through this link:
